Community Support and Development
At CIC Australia we take great pride in not only providing a place for new residents to call home but also in helping them settle in and connect with their new community. To help this happen, we provide a number of services and organise a variety of community events. On larger projects we often appoint a full-time community development officer in the formative stages, whose role is to help lay solid foundations for the community, connect people to each other, organise events (from sustainability and gardening education to Christmas Parties and Easter events) and facilitate the establishment of ongoing community groups.
CIC Australia also accepts that we have a broader community role and we address this via the support of numerous charitable and community-based groups in the localities within which we work. For example, in the Canberra region, we provide assistance to HOME in Queanbeyan, a community-based response to provide a home for people with chronic mental illness who struggle to live independently.
We are inaugural Reconciliation Partners with Reconciliation Australia and have strategies in place for all our projects.
In South Australia CIC Australia supports Bedford Industries, a not-for-profit organisation that provides a brighter future for people with a disability or disadvantage by offering employment, recreational and day activities, training, life skills, community housing and support services. In Adelaide we are sponsors of the Lightsview Cycling team which sits well with our emphasis on sustainability. In Canberra we are the major sponsor of the Prime Minister’s XI cricket match, one of the city’s longest standing traditions.
In all the areas where we operate, CIC Australia supports a range of community activities, from Little Athletics to Rotary, from Juvenile Diabetes Research to local building industry associations.
