Eastern Industrial Estate, ACT
Eastern Industrial Estate is a new industrial estate on a 45Ha site located close to the border between the ACT and Queanbeyan, New South Wales. The development will address a shortage of well-located industrial land in the region, catering to local businesses seeking affordable premises close to the established Fyshwick and Queanbeyan industrial areas.
Eastern Industrial Estate will provide 135 industrial blocks, ranging in size from 900m2 to 3,500m2. Good pre-sales resulted from the release of Stage One in late 2008 with businesses acquiring blocks for a variety of uses including warehousing, light manufacturing and builders’ yards.
All blocks at Eastern Industrial Estate will be provided to the market fully serviced with underground power, town water and sewerage, kerbing and guttering. CIC Australia will also be providing the estate infrastructure, including access roads.
The site has required significant remediation since it was purchased by CIC in 2007 and we have undertaken a comprehensive response to environmental issues affecting the land. The process to date has included demolishing the old abattoir buildings and clearing and disposing of the resulting rubble, with further work to remediate a tallow pond and an area of dumped builders’ rubbish. All activities have been undertaken in line with Environmental Protection Authority regulations.
Some large tracts of land have been set aside from the development to maintain the best of the vegetation. We are working with the Molonglo Creek Catchment Group to clear weeds, build a small wetland and restore vegetation in the area.
