Joint Venture Partners
As one of Australia’s most progressive and flexible development companies, CIC Australia has provided the know-how, management skills and innovative appetite for many joint venture development projects. We have partnered with government agencies, other development companies and private landowners on a range of projects – from small rural residential developments to whole new suburbs.
One of our earliest joint ventures was the City Edge project in Canberra, where we formed a new building company to be the joint venture partner with Community Housing Canberra (CHC). It was an excellent example of a private/public company partnership, delivering seamlessly integrated public, private and community owned dwellings of various types, on a previously degraded site. It was a testament to our willingness to work with government in addressing the triple bottom line of social, economic and environmental responsibility.
Also in Canberra, we have enjoyed a productive relationship with the ACT’s Land Development Agency (LDA), particularly in the case of the new suburbs Forde and Crace. In the former instance, we have also partnered with Delfin Lend Lease, combining our knowledge of the Canberra market with Delfin’s wealth of development experience. At Forde we participated in a skills transfer program with the LDA where the CIC Forde team provided valuable experience to a number of LDA staff.
At Crace, we are the lead partner in a consortium consisting of ourselves, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) and Community Housing Canberra. With all JVs CIC takes the lead role in project management and marketing, and often in sales as well.
Our joint ventures also extend to South Australia and the Northern Territory. At Lightsview in Adelaide, our joint venture with the SA Government’s Land Management Corporation is producing an innovative, sustainable community (Lightsview) in the city’s north-eastern suburbs. At Lyons in Darwin, our partnership with Defence Housing Australia has resulted in the development of the first masterplanned community in the city’s northern suburbs for more than two decades.
As a joint venture partner, CIC Australia offers experience across a range of projects, from high rise apartments to special purpose housing, from the inner city to rural land. Our guiding principles of sustainability, community and amenity have been applied in innovative ways across our many sites. Our own staff have expertise in town-planning, urban design, environmental management, civil engineering, architecture, sales and marketing, project and financial accounting and of course high level project management. Our in-house skills are supplemented by specialised contractors with whom we have established relationships.
Research conducted in 2009 indicated that CIC is regarded by its business partners as strategic, progressive and financially astute, and that the hands-on involvement of senior management is judged to be a unique strength of the company.
